NO MAN’S LAND: THE RISE OF REEKER (2008) Reviews and overview

No Man’s Land: The Rise of Reeker is a 2008 American horror film written, co-produced and directed by Dave Payne (Addams Family Reunion; Alien Avengers II; Alien Terminator). It is a prequel to Reeker, which was also directed by Dave Payne in 2005. In the UK, the film is known as Reeker 2.

Plot:

The Reeker is a ghost that works for Death. He was originally a serial killer known as “The Death Valley Drifter” who went on a murder spree through Death Valley in the 1970s. After his execution, another version of the killer, decayed and more deadly, was created by Death as a killing machine to harvest people from the void between life and death…

A sheriff and his son who are tracking down a group of bank robbers on their way to Mexico, only to discover that they are being stalked by a far more deadly enemy — The Reeker.

Reviews:

A little too much time is devoted to developing secondary characters that aren’t especially important to the overall storyline. Still, the premise is engaging enough to keep one’s interest. A few nice scares are thrown in here and there.” DVD Talk

“You want more action, more gore or more humour. Payne does include some comedy, but then he’d have to when characters find themselves running into an invisible wall around the area (cue miming and mashed heads). The other strength of Reeker is that it’s handsomely shot.” Film4
