Red, White & Blue is a 2010 macabre revenge-thriller film written and directed by Simon Rumley (Once Upon a Time in London; Johnny Frank Garrett’s Last Word; The Living and the Dead). The movie stars Noah Taylor, Amanda Fuller and Marc Senter.
Plot:
Erica (Amanda Fuller) spends her nights trawling the bars and beds of Austin. Emotionally withdrawn, her only form of human contact is a series of one-night stands until she meets the mysterious Nate (Noah Taylor), who claims to have been honourably discharged from service in Iraq.
Despite his air of danger, Nate’s the only man who seems to want her company for more than carnal pleasure, and the two form a hesitant bond. But one of Erica’s casual encounters, Franki (Marc Senter) — a young, hot-headed wannabe rock star — is about to return dramatically into her life…
Reviews:
“… genuinely special, at least for viewers with strong stomachs and an inclination to explore the darker and more depressing corners of human existence. A tough, immaculately made gem, which will hopefully find the cult success it deserves, it stands out as one of the more memorable and disturbing films of the last year.” Beyond Hollywood
“I’m sitting here still trying to fight off the whirlwind of emotions that this film invoked. I’m sad, angry and more so, I’m completely shocked at how grim the existence of humanity can really be. Rumley captured all of those emotions and then some, and although this movie is a complete and utter downer, I couldn’t be happier with how well my expectations have been exceeded.” Cinesploitation
