TerrorVision was made by Empire International Pictures, the production company owned by Charles Band prior to Full Moon. The film was given a limited release theatrically in the United States by Empire Pictures in February 1986.

It grossed a mere $320,256 at the box office and received extremely negative reviews from critics. Plot:

When Stanley Putterman installs a brand new, state-of-the-art satellite dish in his backyard, his family ends up getting a lot more than just ESPN. Unfortunately for Stanley, his satellite is a perfect receptor for a load of extraterrestrial garbage that just happened to be converted into energy and zapped into his backyard: a hideous, two-ton alien blob with a never-ending appetite…

Reviews:

“By no means is TerrorVision a great film, it is however incredibly fun and pure 80’s cheesiness in the best possible way. Mary Woronov and Gerrit Graham are great as the parents, and the cheesey 80’s special effects work is very nostalgic for me. Great stuff. A high recommend.’ McBastard’s Mausoleum

TerrorVision is played too much with a tongue in cheek to take too seriously, but it tends to be a film that will draw more eye rolls than laughs or chuckles. A film filled with so many puns and double entendres simply has to be taken at face value. Plus you can’t hate on anything with eighties cutey pie Diane Franklin starring in it.” Felix Vasquez Jr, Cinema Crazed

“There’s a deranged blob monster that emerges from a TV set (courtesy of FX guru John Buechler) and a cracking punky B52’s style theme from The Fibonaccis. The HD transfer is absolutely gorgeous and blows up real good on large monitors (you could light up a room for a rave the colours are so intense).” Lovely Jon, Days Are Numbered
