Sick aka Sick: Survive the Night is a 2012 American horror film directed by Ryan M. Andrews from a screenplay co-written with Chris Cull. The movie stars Debbie Rochon, Christiana Aceto, Richard Sutton and Robert Nolan.

Plot:

Two years after the infection began, billions have died. Governments have collapsed and the human race is on the brink of extinction. Doctor Leigh Rozetta is a young, maverick scientist, who’s been living in a secret underground government facility since the outbreak began.

After constant failed attempts to find a cure, Leigh sneaks away to return to her parent’s house. On her way, she crosses paths with Seph and Mckay, two militant survivalists, who only just barely escaped an attack from a group of infected.

With nightfall close at hand, the three of them know they need to seek shelter. Boarding themselves up in Leigh’s parent’s house, the plan is simple: survive the night. But with the ‘Sick’ surrounding the house and their own tensions through the roof, they’ll be lucky if anyone makes it out alive…

Reviews:

Sick is not recommended even for the most devout zombie film fans. The characters are unlikable, scenes are artificial and much of the drama is not set up well. This title was initially developed as a short. While not really stretched out, something went wrong in the development of several scenes.” 28 Days Later Analysis

” …the characters are well written and it’s a fresh take on the same old zombie tropes. I would definitely recommend Sick to anyone looking for a great character-driven zombie film that’s not the norm in a sea of films that only care about the zombies and not the survivors.” Horror News

” …the zombies are only an anonymous and largely absent threat – somehow echoing Jean-Paul Sartre’s “hell is other people” in that respect. Now add to that a subtle directorial effort that gives the movie’s characters time to develop rather than rushing from one gore or action setpiece to the next and a uniformly great cast, and you’ve got yourself a pretty good film.” Search My Trash
