Sky Sharks is a 2020 German science-fiction comedy horror film directed by Marc Fehse (Mutation; Spores) from a screenplay written by A.D. Morel. The Fuse Box Films-Slice Production Studios movie stars Tony Todd, Robert LaSardo and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa.

Plot:
A team of Arctic geologists stumble across an abandoned laboratory in which the Nazis developed an incredible and brutal secret weapon during the final months of WW2.

Deep in the ice, the team accidentally awake a deadly army of flying zombie sharks ridden by genetically mutated, undead super-humans, who are unleashed into the skies, wreaking their bloodthirsty revenge on any aircraft that takes to the air.

An elite task force is assembled to take on this deadly threat and stop the Sky Sharks from conquering the air, but as time runs out, the task force realises they will have to fight fire with fire, and the stage is set for the greatest flying super-mutant zombie shark air battle the world has ever seen…

Reviews:
“Nazi scientists with extraordinary plans is a great storyline, you can take it in so many directions. I can’t help but feel that Sky Sharks suffers from over complications. Discovery, accidental release followed by solution… that simple formula is cluttered with a lot of back story that could easily be cut back and made easier to follow, a fair amount seemed to have no purpose.” Emma @ the Movies

Sky Sharks isn’t supposed to be a good film. It’s like Sharknado with a Nazi zombie twist that was made for horny teen boys that think boobs and gore are cool. I admit I did find the film entertaining, but it wasn’t a good film. I’m never going to be desperate to see it again but it did amuse me for 102 minutes.” Entertainment Focus

“The special effects give it the look of a lazily made Nineties computer game. Whilst this wouldn’t be a problem – and might even be endearing – if the rest of what we got was punchy and fun, when they make up 50% of the film, the result is just boring. One thing you can do if you’re bored watching this film is to play a little game, working out how many seconds you can count until you see another pair of tits.” Eye for Film

“There’s no danger that anyone will confuse Sky Sharks with a movie taking itself too seriously, and occasionally it graduates to being genuinely hilarious, whether entirely intended or not. It doesn’t always work, but schlock aficionados should find enough to enjoy throughout.” Flickering Myth

Sky Sharks is a film that falls into the ‘car crash’ category. As much as you want to, you simply cannot pull yourself away from what is unfolding onscreen. Not quite a ‘so bad it’s good’ film, Sky Sharks will nonetheless entertain, even if that entertainment comes in the form of you screaming at the screen.” The Hollywood News

“There’s a promising thread too about how people fighting authoritarians may need to become as bad as ones they oppose. However, it’s too messy and poorly paced to be entertaining. At the very least, more badass action sequences with the “unstoppable” and “indestructible” foes would have been welcome. Forget flying: Sky Sharks has an unexpectedly slow stagger to its anti-climax.” Horror Cult Films

“Its tongue may be planted firmly in its cheek, but by taking itself more seriously than most, Sky Sharks works better than the rest of them. Still, detractors are unlikely to be won over by the basic story, wooden performances and underwritten human element (Tony Todd notwithstanding because… well, Tony Todd).” Horror DNA

Sky-Sharks-2017-gore

“With Sky Sharks, director/co-writer/editor/costume designer Marc Fehse seems to be channelling both Bruno Mattei and Richard Driscoll in an attempt to outdo them both in terms of incompetence with this witless farrago of babbling nonsense.” House of Mortal Cinema

“Mercilessly drawn out to 102 minutes (including post-credits trailer for Sky Frogs), it sloshes comic gore with a distinctly lumpen style that seldom gets laughs […] and manages to be relentlessly aggravating […] Its idea of being edgy and transgressive is characters getting shredded to pieces while having sex in an airplane toilet.  So that’s a miss, then.” The Kim Newman Web Site

“Just like Iron Sky’s director Timo Vuorensela, Marc Fehse supervises all the visual effects himself. Both Iron Sky, its sequel Iron Sky: The Coming Race (2018) and Sky Sharks share the same problems in that outside of the things that the respective directors do well – the effects scenes and planting tongue in cheek – the films lack a strong plot holding everything together.” Moria

Sky Sharks is a perfect blend of gory horror, comedy action, and historic gung-ho: perfect for anyone who enjoyed both Iron Sky and Overlord.” Ready Steady Cut!

“It […] would have helped if the script had given us something to hold our interest between the scenes of blood and/or boobs. Unfortunately, it’s merely a collection of excuses for those scenes strung together, frequently with no explanation for what is going on. I don’t expect meticulous plotting in a film about flying Nazi sharks, but a bit of explanation would be nice. The attempts at humour are another of the script’s weak points.” Voices from the Balcony
