‘Terror had devolved’
Throwback is a 2014 Australian bigfoot horror film directed by Travis Bain and starring Shawn Brack, Anthony Ring, and Melanie Serafin.
Plot:
Two modern-day treasure hunters go searching for the lost gold of a legendary 1800’s outlaw in the remote jungles of Far North Queensland, Australia. But instead of riches, they find a different kind of legend: a ferocious Australian monster known as a Yowie, Australia’s answer to Bigfoot, and a savage battle for survival ensues…

Review:
Director Travis Bain does a decent job with the materials he has, and with a better screenplay and cast could probably make a solid film. But this, I’m afraid, is something of a failure, and only fails to disappoint because the sub-genre has such a bad track record to begin with.

Other reviews:
“It’s hardly an earth-shattering achievement, but Throwback is enjoyable enough, and certainly marks out Travis Bain is another Australian indie filmmaker worth keeping an eye on. Hope he has a slightly bigger budget at his disposal next time around.” Brutal as Hell
“Edgy, suspenseful and nasty Throwback is a gem of a film that also reminds filmmakers and audiences out there that it is more than okay to throw in a good storyline and well developed characters when you are making a creature feature. Throwback is the kind of film where you are literally on the edge of your seat throughout and it announces Travis Bain as one of Australia’s most promising directors.” Subculture Entertainment
