Plot:

Desperate to get her life back on track and still unstable, Streak takes a job as a security guard, working the graveyard shift at a once upscale, now abandoned apartment complex.

However, on her first night on duty, she discovers a horrifying presence lurking deep within the bowels of the decaying building. With her nerves already on edge, Streak must confront demons both real and imagined as she struggles to keep a grip on her sanity…

Reviews:

” … it tells a fairly conventional tale of supernatural horror, reminiscent of The Innkeepers and its atmosphere. It’s nowhere near that level in its writing, story, characters or scares, but for a debut movie, it is very well crafted and told. Instantly forgettable … but slick and effective nevertheless, it makes for easy viewing, and looks good too while it’s doing it.” Nerdly

“This film could have worked if it had known what it wanted to be and stuck to it, but the plot somehow manages to be both all over the place and still devoid of any substance. Jason Patric is the best part of the film by far, being uncomfortably creepy when we first encounter him and gradually becoming more sympathetic and likeable…” Scream magazine

“This is a film that has absolutely nothing to recommend in its favor from start to nearly finish — but its completely unexpected, whacked-out finale is just about enough to save it.” Trash Film Guru

“Much running, screaming and nonsensical behavior ensues, all of it dramatized by Rockaway and cinematographer Zack Galler with competent (if derivative) aesthetics that place an emphasis on the interplay between narrow light and consuming shadows. The Abandoned’s plotting, however, is a lumbering mess, resorting to the cheapest jolt-scare tactics to elicit terror…” Variety

Release:

The film is released theatrically and on VOD on January 8, 2016, by IFC Midnight.

In the UK, the film was released on DVD by 101 Films and shown on the Horror Channel as The Confined.
