‘They’ll rip out your funny bone’
ClownTown – aka Clown Town – is a 2016 American horror film directed by former actor Tom Nagel (The Toybox) from a screenplay by producer Jeff Miller (Jolly Roger: Massacre at Cutter’s Cove; Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan; The Burning Dead).
The film was inspired by the urban myth about people dressed as clowns that allegedly terrorised Bakersfield, California in 2014.
In North America, ITN Distribution is unleashing Clowntown in movie theatres on September 30th and on VOD on October 4th.
Main cast:
Brian Nagel, Lauren Elise, Katie Keene, Andrew Staton, Jeff Denton (The Beast of Bray Road), Greg Violand, Maryanne Nagel, Kaitlyn Sapp (Banshee). Former wrestler Chris Hahn (who played the title role in Axe Giant) played a menacing brute of a clown.
Plot:
A group of friends become stranded in a small town and are stalked by a gang of violent psychopaths dressed as clowns…

“A slasher movie would be nothing without interesting antagonists, and Clowntown actually delivers on that front. The psychotic clowns feel truly intimidating, and Nagel’s direction provides them with some chilling moments as well. Sadly, when their backstory was finally revealed it didn’t feel quite as memorable as it should have been, but that doesn’t ruin the experience as a whole.” Bloody Disgusting
