Marrowbone is a 2017 horror thriller film written and directed by Sergio G. Sánchez (writer of The Orphanage) and co-produced by J.A. Bayona (director of The Orphanage). Also known as The Secret of Marrowbone

A young man and his four younger siblings, who have kept secret the death of their beloved mother in order to remain together, are plagued by a sinister presence in the sprawling manor in which they live…

Reviews:
“Highly predictable and certainly by-the-numbers, Marrowbone is still effectively creepy and looks beautiful. It won’t be considered a classic, by any stretch of the imagination, but there is certainly an audience who will enjoy the tale that Sánchez has weaved.” Dread Central

“…a sumptuous tale of various sorts of haunting set in what should be a seaside Eden. Scary enough to please most genre buffs, it would also play well in art houses: If you were to go through and remove every hint of ghosts, you’d still have a drama well worth seeing.” The Hollywood Reporter

“For as convoluted as the plot is, Marrowbone is watchable, and to some, an enjoyable ghost story. The movie doesn’t focus on the ghost, instead highlighting the family. If a few subplots were removed, or less prominent, Marrowbone would border on a masterpiece.” Modern Horrors

“In the end, all the creaky floorboards, rough-hewn dolls, pillow fortresses, yellowing newspaper clippings, homemade storybooks and crackly old-vinyl recordings of 1940s ballads in the world, can’t obscure the fact that the most haunting things about Marrowbone are the ghosts of all the better movies it fleetingly resembles.” The Playlist
