BUNKER OF THE DEAD (2015) Reviews and overview

‘True evil never dies’

Bunker of the Dead is 2015 German action horror film directed by Matthias Olof Eich [as Matthew O. Oaks] from a screenplay co-written with Bernd Strack. It stars Patrick Jahns, Esther Maaß, Aciel Martinez Pol and Sarita Bradley.

Plot:

In the picturesque Bavarian town of Oberammergau, two friends, Markus and Thomas, are using the instructions found in an old Jewish diary to gain access to a World War II underground military base formerly codenamed: CERUSIT.

Used by the Nazis as a secret research institute, there are shrouded rumors to this day about the lost gold of the Third Reich. The entrance to the cave system, however, lies right within the restricted area of a U.S. military base… the first of many problems Markus and Thomas will have to face.

Review:

“It never consists of anything more than us watching the camera-eye viewpoint of Patrick Jahns as he runs about the bunker shooting and battering zombies while his off-screen voice yells with glee at each kill. There is no plot development beyond a string of kills one after the other…” Moria

In the UK, Bunker of the Dead was released on DVD on 23 April 2018 by Altitude Film Distribution.
