MORBIUS (2021) Release now delayed until January 2022



Morbius is an upcoming 2020 American action horror feature film directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life). The Sony movie stars Jared Leto (American Psycho; Urban Legend) as the titular antihero, Morbius, aka “The Living Vampire”. Read the background of the comic book character here

Adria Arjona is playing Morbius’ fiancée Martine Bancroft. The cast includes Jared Harris (The Terror TV series; Poltergeist 2015; The Quiet Ones) and former Doctor Who Matt Smith.


Doctor Michael Morbius is a scientist who, in trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transforms himself into a living vampire. Though disgusted by his own bloodlust, he chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life…


Morbius was due to be unleashed on July 31, 2020, but this was put back to  March 19, 2021, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The release date has now moved to October 8th. This has now been pushed back to January 21, 2022The move comes as theatergoing still remains uncertain amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.


Morbius was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane and first appeared in Marvel Comics’ Amazing Spider-Man #101. This followed the February 1971 updating of the comic-book industry’s self-censorship board, the Comics Code Authority, that lifted a ban on vampires and certain other supernatural characters. It was also the first issue not written by Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee.
