‘Playtime is over!’
Little Monsters is a 2019 Australian-British-American comedy horror film written and directed by Abe Forsythe.

The movie stars Lupita Nyong’oJosh Gad, Alexander England, Stephen Peacocke and Nadia Townsend.

Plot:
A washed-up musician teams up with a teacher and a kids show personality to protect young children from a sudden outbreak of zombies

Reviews:
” …this is a pretty charming little zombie comedy and while I’m not sure a theatrical run is the best bet for it, it’ll for sure be a must-watch once it hits Hulu, with it being warm-hearted enough to connect with a broad audience. It’s not terribly original but it’s well-done and quite charming.” Arrow in the Head

“On the horror side, Forsythe leverages tropes of the zombie subgenre for laughs. Slow-moving zombies, different animals being eaten, physical gags, and a few action sequences round a great use of a horror staple. But with music and the main characters, it never feels like something we’ve seen before.” But Why Tho?

…Little Monsters is the story of a man learning to appreciate domesticity and in a world where that storyline usually is reserved for a woman, it was wonderful to watch. Little Monsters is a sensational entry into the zombie landscape with characters you’ll root for, cry over, and love to hate.” Culturess

“For anyone who has felt like the zombie subgenre is well-mined cinematic territory with no real surprises left to be found, Forsythe is here to prove with Little Monsters that there is still a ton of fun to be found when you unleash a multitude of flesh-eaters upon a children’s petting zoo.” Daily Dead

“The concept of the undead versus school teachers is midnight movie madness, yet the film is every bit as warm as a Saturday morning cartoon. With the right outlook and guiding hand, nothing need be scary, and the mundane (or monstrous) can be a perfect escape.” Den of Geek!

“Starting off with high gear comedy that comes thick and fast, by the time Little Monsters settles into its zombie siege plot it still has plenty of laughs to offer. The leads are likeable and funny and have great chemistry, and there’s an excellent over the top slimy turn from Josh Gad […] Little Monsters is funny, charming, blood-splattered and a delight to watch.” House of Mortal Cinema

“Forsythe also slyly stages a number of adorably loopy songs that will leave jaded genre fans with big goofy smiles, in spite of themselves. The only real annoyance in Little Monsters is the negative portrayal of the U.S. military. Seriously, if a zombie apocalypse ever broke out, Forsythe would be praying for the U.S. Marines to come riding in.” J.B. Spins

“Whether the characters are just that charming or the well-designed zombies just that unthreatening, I rarely felt like the situation was as dire as it should be perceived to be. Still, I haven’t had this much fun with zombies in a while, and the hysterical cast more than makes up for any misgivings.” Killer Horror Critic

” …a reasonably clever premise for a Night of the Living Dead update, but unfortunately, Little Monsters never pushes past that premise. Writer/director Abe Forsythe has about three comic notions (most notably, that it’s funny to say wildly inappropriate things around five-year-olds–that one gets a real workout) and he just keeps circulating them…” The Playlist

“Gad is in full-blown Gad Mode, but the awfulness of his character is intentional this time. Ultimately, Little Monsters may not live up to the Romero/Jackson films that influenced it, but it’s a reasonably enjoyable zombie flick.” RogerEbert.com

Little Monsters is non-stop laughs, featuring Taylor Swift songs, nursery rhymes and oh yeah, bloodthirsty zombies. This is the most insanely horrifying and hilarious film of Sundance.” We Live Entertainment
