RED ROOM (2017) Reviews and overview

‘How much is your life worth’

Red Room is a 2017 Irish horror film directed by Stephen Gaffney (Demoniac; shorts: Reverence; The Deep Web) from a screenplay co-written with Erica Keegan. The Deep Web Films-Sicario Pictures production stars Amy Kelly, Sohaila Lindheim, Saoirse Doyle, John D’Alessandro, Eddie Jackson, Brian Fortune and Rodrigo Ternevoy.

Plot:

When the husband of an affluent woman kills himself, she loses the high life and pretty much everything and ends up on the street, days before she was due to give birth.

With nowhere to go and no money, she is attacked and mugged, but a good Samaritan rescues her and takes her to a shelter called God’s Haven, a place of safety where she delivers her baby, but it turns out to be an entirely different world. A world run by danger, desire and deception…

Reviews:

” …the cast are very good in their respective roles. With Red Room’s standout performances being Amy Kelly, Saoirse Doyle and Michelle Audrey, in the roles of three women who are being held captive in the red room […] From a production standpoint, Red Room achieves all of its goals.” 10K Bullets

“The plot is interesting enough for the most part and the lead actresses have you invested, although after a large build up of dread and tension it all explodes into a clunky, silly and rushed final act. The acting is fairly good from some, mostly the leads […] Surprisingly light on gore too bar one scene which goes heavy and has some top notch practical effects…” Kevin Shields

” …the shocking and disturbing nature of the film is really what it is about and Red Room successfully achieves what it sets out to do. Red Room will certainly appeal to many fans of extreme horror, but it is not one for the faint-hearted.” UK Film Review
