We Have Always Lived in the Castle is a 2018 American macabre mystery drama film directed by Stacie Passon (Concussion) from a screenplay co-written with Mark Kruger, based on Shirley Jackson’s 1962 story of the same name. The Furthur Films-Albyn Media-Mighty Engine production stars Crispin Glover, Alexandra Daddario, Taissa Farmiga and Sebastian Stan.

Plot:

The Blackwood family – Constance (Alexandra Daddario), Merricat (Taissa Farmiga) and their Uncle Julian (Crispin Glover) – live in isolation after experiencing a family tragedy six years earlier. The family use rituals and talismans to ward off hostile townspeople.

When distant cousin Charles (Sebastian Stan) arrives to steal the family fortune, he also threatens a dark secret they’ve been hiding..
