Plot:
Blaming herself for her son’s accidental death, young wife Cynthia (Trilby Glover) risks redemption at the hands of an otherworldly intruder who appears in the couple’s home during a night of apocalyptic world events and somehow knows every detail of Cynthia’s guilt-ridden past…
Review:
Threshold is a beautifully shot, intelligent and touching film that both intrigues and enthrals. Some viewers may find it initially too slow to deliver the shocks they crave but when it does get down to the nitty-gritty conflict situation, it’s intense.
Ultimately, Threshold is a relationship-based drama that posits questions about parenting, loss and the environment. As a bonus, the home invasion element that it presents is nonetheless gripping and involving.
Threshold is a film that rises above genre expectations and offers something more cerebral. Filmmaker Jason Eric Perlman should be commended for creating a thoughtful movie that we can reflect on. Performances by the principal leads Trilby Glover, Randy Wayne and Leslie Stevens are excellent. Recommended.
