Midnight Mass is a forthcoming Netflix horror series from director Mike Flanagan and his producer partner Trevor Macy, the duo behind the hugely successful The Haunting of Hill House, Deadline has reported.
The new series stems from the multi-year TV deal that the streaming service signed with the filmmaking pair and their Intrepid Pictures earlier this year which also led to the second installment of Hill House, recently announced as The Haunting of Bly Manor.
The seven-episode Midnight Mass is about an isolated island community that experiences miraculous events — and frightening omens — after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest.
Filmmaker Flanagan and producer Macy first collaborated on the 2014 feature Oculus. They worked together with Before I Wake, Hush and Gerald’s Game. These well-received movies all streamed on Netflix, before the duo expanded their collaboration to a series with The Haunting of Hill House.
