Reviews:

Hobbs & Shaw ends with some verve, a necessary boost in blunt ways to kill people, but it’s only a frustratingly small part of a blandly realized offering of mass entertainment. The picture snaps tightly into overall franchise plans (Fast & Furious 9 is due out next year) and, for some reason, is loaded with celebrity cameos, making it a surefire ride for the faithful.” Blu-ray.com

” …it’s just an excuse to showcase the two leads’ bickery banter, a couple of hilarious cameos and some increasingly ludicrous – and incredibly impressive – action set-pieces. Moreso than any film bearing the Fast moniker yet, Hobbs & Shaw leans into the comedy of it all, with a healthy dose of knowing, tongue-in-cheek humour.” Den of Geek!

“Testosterone, muscles, action, guns and cars… it’s Fast & Furious business as usual. Could be tighter, mind, and the constant dick-measuring gets a little wearying.” Games Radar

“It’s as ridiculous and OTT as its franchise predecessors, with the story as thin as they come, but with this group it all works brilliantly – and, quite frankly, we couldn’t be happier with that.” HeyUGuys

” …a fair bit of gonzo action, a hair-raising London chase scene, some transatlantic alpha-male squabbling, a cheerfully silly plot MacGuffin – and for the first two thirds the whole thing hums like a hi-tech top. The movie is a bit overextended, and the action runs out of steam in the final battle, but it delivers some bangs and laughs for your buck.” The Guardian

“It’s funny that they refer to Brixton as both Black Superman and The Terminator, showing how much the needle on this series has pushed into fantasy and sci-fi. But even the most superficially escapist entertainment needs to build to something, and the lackluster setting and spotty execution of the final big sequences here reminded me more of lesser Fast & Furious movies.” RogerEbert.com

“There is nothing subtle about Hobbs & Shaw. It’s a huge movie filled with huge action, huge laughs, huge leaps of logic, and in the end, huge feelings. That’s exactly what I enjoyed about it. It knows what its audience wants, and it delivers in spades.” Screen Anarchy

“That the film’s speculative fiction about manufacturing genocide to force a proprietary human evolution resolves to the importance of family works to neatly illustrate the franchise’s humble emotional stakes, and it’s precisely this focus on the ties that bind that continues to make these films so endearing.” Slant

“While I wouldn’t say that I have particularly hated it, I would say it was not what I was expecting. It goes a bit off the rails, and I wouldn’t say it was in a good way. Either way, the end of the film is satisfying and proves to be a stellar jumping-off point, should they decide to make Hobbs & Shaw a franchise of its own.” We Live Entertainment
