‘Man’s greatest monster is back!’
Sharkenstein is a 2016 American horror film about a small ocean town plagued by a blood-thirsty creature that was built and reanimated by using the parts of the greatest sea-killers: the Sharkenstein monster.

Directed by Mark Polonia (Queen Crab; Amityville Death House; Bigfoot vs Zombies) from a screenplay by J.K. Farlew.

The movie stars Greta Volkova (Tales of Dracula; Bigfoot vs. Zombies; Brackish), Ken VanSant, Titus Himmelberger (Amityville Exorcism), James Carolus (Amityville Exorcism; Revolt of the Empire of the Apes; Jurassic Prey) and Jeff Kirkendall (Doctor Acid Face; Land Shark; Amityville Death House).

Brett Piper (Queen Crab) handled the special effects.

Plot:
In the final days of World War II, a secret experiment to weaponise sharks is shut down and destroyed by the Third Reich. Now, sixty years later, a small ocean town is plagued by a bloodthirsty, mysterious creature, one built and reanimated using parts of the greatest killers to ever inhabit the sea – the Sharkenstein monster!

Reviews:

“Much of the cast is supposed to be teenagers, but are obviously a decade older and one annoyingly wears a sideways baseball cap so you know he’s a teenager. The shark itself was made by Brett Piper, who has some ability, but Polonia did the special effects, which are very very poor.” Down Among the Z Movies

“A nice nod to Frankenstein films of Hammer and Universal are mentioned throughout […] SFX are mainly done by Brett Piper (Queen Crab) with his usual use of stop motion animation and puppetry skills. The shark itself does look very effective in its underwater scenes with its stitched up look and when it gets hit by lightning later in the movie it becomes something else that is worth watching for.” Horror Screams Video Vault

“It’s goofy, it’s cheesy, it’s full of horrible (but in a kitsch way) CGI, but this is a love letter to Roger Corman’s classic sci-fi movies from the fifties, blended with a neat tip of the hat to Universal horror […] an insanely fun hour and ten minutes. It’s classic SOV in the age of sterile SyFy. Dig it!” The Schlock Pit

“The premise alone should get points. The dialogue that at times, goes into full horror nerd mode. You get the horror references that show someone is a fan of this genre, and someone understands films like this are meant to be fun cheese. I watched The Shallows and I watched In the Deep. Those were bigger budgeted shark films with celebrities and directors who had budgets to spare. I did not have this much fun in those films.” Wicked Channel

“Brett Piper provides a marvelously threatening-yet-silly shark, although it’s mostly limited to snatches of computer non-animation, where it’s just moved across the screen without having to do much of anything else. It seems a total waste of his considerable talents. Surprisingly, most of the kills are stock footage, with flashes of the shark and the screen going red and chummy.” Rivets on the Poster

“This one not only kills people in water, but because it’s a concoction of parts, it goes on land and kills people too! The extras that hunt Sharkenstein on land are terrible and all the gunshots are post-production with sound effects and muzzle flare, but again, I like that. I even laughed when the actress Greta Volkova went over the history of Frankenstein movies from the classics to Hammer Films.” The Nerd’s Templar
