‘It kills in cold blood’
Yeti is a 2008 American monster movie about the victims of a plane crash in the Himalayas and their fight for survival against hunger and the abominable snowman. Also known as Yeti: Curse of the Snow Demon

Directed by Paul Ziller (Loch Ness Terror; Swarmed; Snakehead Terror; Pledge Night) from a screenplay written by Rafael Jordan (Poseidon Rex; Dragon Wasps; Copperhead) based on a story by Mark L. Lester (Class of 1984).

The movie stars Carly Pope, Marc Menard, Adam O’Byrne and Elfina Luk.

Plot:
A plane flight carrying the State College Grizzlies, a college football team, crashes in the Himalayas. Surviving the crash was only part of their problem.

Trying not to starve and also become a meal for the monster lurking in the mountains will be their greater challenge…

Reviews:
“The quarterback’s name is Peyton Elway, which is the funniest thing in the film.

The monster is a bad suit, except when it’s bad CGI (it leaps about 40 feet) […]For a SyFy original, it’s not as bad as most.” Down Among the Z Movies

“I didn’t dislike the film. It just doesn’t sustain itself to the degree Loch Ness Terror did. The set-up is strong and the climax with the Yeti going berserk, including ripping off a guy’s leg, beating him with it, and then chewing on it like a turkey leg on Thanksgiving, is a hoot. A good beginning and a fun ending, but most of the film’s midsection just left me – dare I say it – cold.” Dread Central

I think the filmmakers were attempting to make a legitimate creature feature but instead, they’ve created one of the wackiest, silliest, and funniest movies that the genre has ever produced, and it all occurred within the organic flow of the filmmaking process. This genre we speak of would be the abominable snowman comedy, a genre which I believe consists of one film… this one…” Film Critics United

“I thought for sure that the douchebag quarterback was going to die, leaving the smart(er) kid who was talking to the coach and having problems early on would have to take control of the survivors and lead them to safety. Turns out that kid dies right away, and the douchebag quarterback is our main character, who we’re supposed to root for, I guess. I dunno, it was pretty tough to cheer on anybody in this movie. Even the yeti was pretty damn bad at what he did.” Films in Boxes

“There’s a reasonable cast of characters waiting to get eaten but the film doesn’t space the deaths out, instead of confining the carnage to the final third. However when the carnage rolls, I’ll at least say that it’s gory.” Popcorn Pictures

Yeti is at its best – or at least its most entertaining – whenever it doesn’t attempt to be a low-budget version of Alive and wallows in its other identity as a low-budget Yeti movie, the sort of thing where a character uses a ripped-off arm as a splint, Yetis (by the way mostly realized via suitmation that’s just as problematic as the more SyFy-typical CGI) jump like rascally rabbits, and the best way to get rid of them is the old concrete shoe trick.” The Horror!?

“There is enough gore and laughable moments to keep the movie moving along nicely, and the Yeti is front and center instead of hiding in the shadows. The subpar acting is broken up by the many Yeti appearances making this one the best films Syfy has ever released.” You Won Cannes
