The Lake Vampire is a 2018 Venezuelan psychological thriller film about an author who tracks down a mysterious blood-drinking serial killer.
Written and directed by Carl Zitelmann, making his feature debut, based on the novel ‘A Vampire in Maracaibo’ by Norberto José Olivar, the movie stars Sócrates Serrano and Eduardo Gulino.
Plot:
Author Ernesto Navarro (Sócrates Serrano) is on the hunt for his next big story when he finds more than he bargained for when he encounters evil incarnate in the form of a serial killer (Eduardo Gulino) who seeks immortality through unspeakably sinister means…
The plot was inspired by the real-life case of Zacarias Ortega, a serial killer who drank the blood of his victims. In 1975, when Ortega was captured and detained, he confessed he committed all his crimes to honour an alleged pact with the Devil, who made him immortal.

In the US, the film opens at the Laemmle Glendale in Los Angeles this Friday, September 27th, before being released by Uncork’d Entertainment and Dark Star Pictures via VOD in the Fall.
