They Live Inside Us – USA, 2019 – preview

‘Every house has a story.’

They Live Inside Us is a 2019 American horror feature film about a screenwriter who spends Halloween in a notoriously haunted house hoping to find inspiration.

Written, co-produced, directed, photographed and edited by Michael Ballif (short: 2 Hours), based on a storyline co-written with James Morris and Caroman Turner, the Witching Season Films production stars James Morris, Hailey Nebeker, Stevie Dutson, Emily Broschinsky and Emily Ashby.

Plot:

Jake (James Morris) is a screenwriter dealing with a serious bout of writer’s block. In hope of finding inspiration for his latest project, Jake takes his daughter to spend Halloween night in the notoriously haunted Booth House.

He soon realises that there is something evil in the house and he is living in his own horror story…

Background:

They Live Inside Us was originally created as a short film which also doubles as the fourth part of The Witching Season horror anthology series. This 30-minute short was used as a proof of concept to pitch a feature-length adaptation of the same story.

A successful crowdfunding campaign via Indiegogo raised the small budget to make the film. Filmmaker Michael Ballif has described They Live Inside Us as “a nostalgia-fueled, filled-to-the-brim with Halloween atmosphere, psychological horror flick.”
