THE YOUNG CANNIBALS (2019) Reviews and overview

‘They’re not ‘fine’ anymore!’

The Young Cannibals is a 2019 British horror film written and directed by Kris Carr and Sam Fowler. The Bad Taste production stars Megan Purvis, Samuel Freeman and Hannah Louise Howell.

The film’s synth soundtrack was composed by Gabe Castro (The Apparition; The Covenant; survival game The Forest).

Plot:

Seven friends summon a monster when they are tricked into eating burgers made of human flesh…

Reviews:

The Young Cannibals does pull some surprises with how it kills off some of its characters but after a breakneck start the pace slows down considerably and we get slightly bogged down in dramas instead of the blood and guts of earlier on. Having said this, it does rallies for a great finale that rounds the story off nicely.” Bloody Flicks

” …a well-made movie punching above its budget visually, with some credible acting but a paper-thin plot and, despite its technical merits, overlong and with very little atmosphere, despite the night shooting and some grungy practical effects. One standout is American composer Gabe Castro’s electronic music, which is a very fine thing indeed…” Dark Eyes of London

“Where The Young Cannibals falls apart is in its characters. They’re mostly one-note and fairly interchangeable stereotypes. Keeping the audience from identifying with any of them stops The Young Cannibals from reaching its potential. But it’s still a fun monster movie and certainly worth your time.” Voices from the Balcony
