Into the Dark: Pilgrim is a 2019 American horror feature film about a Thanksgiving dinner that turns into a nightmare.

Pilgrim is the latest instalment of the second season of Blumhouse’s ‘Into the Dark‘ horror anthology series which is aired by Hulu.

Directed by Marcus Dunstan (The Collector and sequels; Saw sequels) from a screenplay co-written with Noah Feinberg and Patrick Melton, the movie stars Antonio Raul Corbo, Peter Giles and Elyse Levesque.

Plot:

Inspired by true events, in an attempt to remind her family of their privilege and help them bond, Ms Anna Barker invites Pilgrim re-enactors to stay with them over Thanksgiving. When the ‘actors’ refuse to break character, the Barker family learns that there is such a thing as too much gratitude…

Reviews [click links to read more]:

“Even though I didn’t always care about the characters, I enjoyed watching their journey, and I was entertained by the way Dunstan brought their story to the screen. Pilgrim is a movie about appreciation, and I appreciated the effort the filmmakers put into making this a Thanksgiving tale that’s even more horrifying than the idea of having to spend the holiday with annoying family members.” Arrow in the Dark

” …the fumblings towards explaining Ethan’s cult-like hold over his congregation seem like a mechanism rather than a character point. Where Pilgrim does work is as a nasty, sloppy slice of occasionally gory fun, chock-full of purposefully silly chills and ridiculous shocks. There are moments that verge on pastiche, and Dunstan et al aren’t afraid to look wild-eyed and deranged.” The Austin Chronicle

“It’s just too bizarre for me, on every level and if you have a weak stomach, the ending will not be for you. Again, the cast does a great job and still provides more than enough reason to watch. Plus, for the second episode in a row, there’s a Pooka hidden in the background!” Laughing Place

“This is one of the best chapters of Into the Dark because it actually has something to say about the holiday it uses. Well, that, and because it gets really gnarly. While the first hour may be too much of a slow burn for some, never fear. This one gets insane with body parts and gore, but never loses its clever sense of humor.” RogerEbert.com
