‘Don’t wake the dead!’
The Curse of Hobbes House is a 2020 British horror film about a young woman who inherits a huge mansion with a zombie curse.
Directed by Juliane Block (3 Lives; 8 Remains) from a screenplay written Wolf-Peter Arand and based on a story by Block, the Aquaset Filmworks-J-Blockbuster production stars Mhairi Calvey (3 Lives), Waleed Elgadi, Makenna Guyler, Kevin Leslie and Jo Price.
Plot:
After the death of her grandmother, Jane Dormant (Mhairi Calvey) travels to the family’s remote, ancestral home hoping to receive a large inheritance.
When Jane’s estranged, half-sister Jennifer (Makenna Guyler) arrives at Hobbes House to claim her part of the estate, the sisters’ simmering hate breaks out completely. Suddenly, a violent, unexpected storm cuts the estate off from outside help and a wave of bloodthirsty zombies lays siege. Now the rival siblings have to learn how to fight back together…

“Even if the guardians are not strictly zombies, spread their infection by touch as much as bite, and are confined to the precinct of Hobbes House, nonetheless the beleaguerment of the house by these blue-eyed running dead plays out like any number of well-trodden zombie scenarios, and never feels particularly distinguished.
