The Mandela Effect is a 2019 science-fiction thriller film about a man who becomes obsessed with facts and events that have been collectively misremembered by thousands of people. Believing the phenomena to be the symptom of something larger, his obsession eventually leads him to question reality itself.

Directed by David Guy Levy (Would You Rather) from a screenplay co-written with Steffen Schlachtenhaufen, the Periscope Entertainment production stars Charlie Hofheimer (Would You Rather), Aleksa Palladino, Robin Lord Taylor (Gotham; Would You Rather), Madeleine McGraw (Ant-Man and the Wasp),and Clarke Peters (His Dark Materials).

Release:

The Mandela Effect premiered at the Other Worlds Film Festival in Austin, Texas, on October 23rd 2019. It was released theatrically in Los Angeles and VOD on December 6th 2019.

Film Facts:

The film is based on the so-called Mandela Effect, a phenomenon that makes us question even the most mundane memories from the past. It’s named after Nelson Mandela, who died in 2013 in South Africa, yet masses of people allegedly claim to remember him dying in prison in the 1980s.
