Elvira’s House of Horrors – pinball machine game

Elvira’s House of Horrors is a 2019 pinball machine produced by Stern and designed by Greg Freres and Dennis Nordman, the creators of the two previous games: Elvira and the Party Monsters (1989) and Elvira’s Scared Stiff (1996).

The pinball machine game is obviously themed around Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, the horror hostess created and played by actress Cassandra Peterson.

Unlike the previous Elvira-themed pinball machines, Elvira: House of Horrors features an HD monitor and Cassandra Peterson was filmed for scenes specifically for this game, apparently a “pinball first,” according to manufacturer Stern as all HD games to-date have sampled video from other sources or used animation.

Aside from a spooky mansion, gargoyles, ghouls and ghosts, the game also incorporates references to a host of horror and sci-fi movies that are in the public domain:

  • Attack of the Giant Leeches (1959)
  • Beast From Haunted Cave (1959)
  • The Brain That Wouldn’t Die (1959)
  • A Bucket of Blood (1959)
  • Don’t Look In The Basement (1973)
  • Eegah (1962)

  • I Eat Your Skin (1964)
  • Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter (1965)

  • Lady Frankenstein (1971)
  • Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966)
