‘Nothing is stranger than reality’
Camp Cold Brook is a 2018 American paranormal horror film directed by Andy Palmer (Badlands of Kain; The Funhouse Massacre; Alien Strain) from a screenplay by Alex Carl (short: Reeves Road).

Plot:
Reality TV producer and host, Jack Wilson (Chad Michael Murray), finds himself in a tough spot. His finances have crumbled and his show, ‘Haunt Squad’, is about to be cancelled.

In a last-ditch effort to spark ratings to land a final season, he and his producers Angela (Danielle Harris) and Emma as well as their trusted cameraman Kevin choose the legend of Camp Cold Brook to save their show. The camp was host to a horrific incident, where the young campers were drowned in a nearby creek twenty years ago.

Their arrival begins like any other episode. Cameras are placed, lights spark to life, but this is not going to be a regular episode of chasing errant noises and measuring for EVP. The terror here was real and the ‘thirty’ are about to rise…

Camp Cold Brook was produced by Warner Davis of Petri Entertainment, Joe Dante (Burying the ExTrapped Ashes; Gremlins) and Mark Alan of Renfield Productions, and Jason Van Eman and Ross Marroso of Weathervane Productions.

Release:
Shout! Studios will release Camp Cold Brook theatrically and on Digital and VOD on February 14th 2020.

Reviews:

Camp Cold Brook is a somewhat subdued thriller. Though, events do build to a decent, late character and plot reveal. Along the way, all of the actors bring great performances, with Harris giving one of her best-terrified faces. This viewer enjoyed all of the night shooting.” 28 Days Later Analysis

“If you frighten easily, Camp Cold Brook might bring forth some shrieks. For those of us horror aficionados with an ironclad constitution, well, it has some creepy moments and it’s definitely an enjoyable ride.” Cryptic Rock

“There are a couple of twists in Camp Cold Brook that, though predictable, add a welcome layer to the story. It’s an engaging tale that delivered a satisfying denouement, it would be interesting to see what Palmer could do with a bigger budget at his disposal.” Deepest Dream

Camp Cold Brook is well-acted, intensely edited, and manages to make both slashers and found footage/ ghost hunting tales interesting again. However, it does not quite reach greatness as the ending is predictable, and the characters, while interesting, only have a trait or two.” Film Threat

“With a unique set-up (like me, you might expect a slasher film – with “Camp” in the title, am I right?), good performances and an enjoyably snappy pace – Camp Cold Brook is an easy recommendation.” Horror Freak News

“If you like a romp through the woods, with some ghostly ghoulies this is definitely the movie for you. There are some creative scares, good camera work and a cast that know how to hold your attention. Watch it! It is a strong ghost movie, with great actors – fun trick shots and a fast pace.” Grue Monkey

“Teen Choice Award winner lead Chad Michael Murray does a good job despite a script that condemns him to play a consistently confused schmoe. Doug Van Liew is excellent as the sheriff, despite his bad advice to leave the past alone. Possible Oscar nod for set design for really dirty water.” It’s Just Movies

“Palmer and the cast handle these very basic scare scenes effectively. The movie also takes the time to establish a chemistry and a history among the main characters, ultimately setting up a genuinely surprising twist. The big stinger ending is arguably a little corny.” Los Angeles Times

” …doesn’t necessarily reinvent the wheel when it comes to its story or scares. However, there’s plenty for people to appreciate and love in this film. The core cast and their chemistry really mesh well in producing that relatable reality TV team feel and, as they start reacting to the events around them, you can really invest in their plight.” Nightmarish Conjurings

“It’s always a joy for genre devotees when Harris pops up, and she and Murray—along with the rest of the cast—deliver fun, lively performances […] Director Andy Palmer (The Funhouse Massacre) guides the entire enterprise with a steady hand, deftly balancing tension, humor, darkness and real scares.” Rue Morgue

“If you’re a fan of well thought out paranormal films definitely check out Camp Cold Brook. It reminds me a lot of horror films from the late 90’s and early 2000’s while remaining current and I think this will resonate with a lot of viewers.” Unseen Films
