Reviews:

“The good use of folklore, symbolism, and mythos of a culture so spiritual as this helps to create a dark atmosphere even in parts that take place in plain daylight. In general, this is a well-done movie and offers an interesting plot, a slow but constant development, and good cinematography, but is affected by everything it leaves unanswered and an ambiguous ending.” 10th Circle

” …it manages to generate a lot of suspense and eerie atmosphere, along with a few genuine scares. I kept expecting Bigfoot to lumber out from behind a tree, although what the local indigenous population claim may be lurking there makes even the big guy seem not quite as threatening.” HK and Cult Film News

” …Lore is a well-made, finely acted film […] Lantz and Lesser deserve particular shout-outs, but it should be readily admitted Roberts quite good in his umpteenth guest star-walk-on appearance. Recommended for those who like their genre films restrained and brooding…” J.B. Spins

Background:

Larsen and Manwill have said: “We were fortunate enough to have cast members from three different Native American nations … each of them brought authenticity and elevated our film in both performance and spirit.”

Additionally, the directors have talked about the film’s underlining theme: “while Lore is meant to be a scary story, our hope is that one can come away from it knowing that no matter what path of life’s questions you find yourself on, you are not alone.”
