The Batman was scheduled to be released on June 25th 2021, however, due to the ongoing pandemic, this has now been delayed until Spring 2022.
Previously, we reported that a stunt double for Robert Pattinson dressed as Batman had been seen scaling the iconic Royal Liver Building in Liverpool, Northern England – despite the UK’s government’s highest Tier 3 coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions being imposed in the famous city. Bars and pubs that do not serve meals are closed – as well gyms, betting shops and casinos. People are banned from socialising with other households both outdoors and indoors. Some have raised questions as to how filming is still going on in Liverpool.
A Liverpool City Council spokeswoman said: “The new restrictions in Liverpool do not currently impact on filming in the city region. The Film Office is working closely with every single production to ensure COVID-safe measures are in place and are being adhered to in accordance with rigorous industry protocols.”
Previously, we reported that production on The Batman had resumed at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, England, following the news that star Robert Pattinson has been tested positive for COVID-19.
Prior to that, Warner Bros. issued an official statement that reads: “A member of The Batman production has tested positive for Covid-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols. Filming is temporarily paused.” And it turns out that the “member of The Batman production” is Robert Pattinson himself and he is in a fourteen-day incubation period!
