‘She will eat your soul’

Ouijageist is a 2018 British supernatural horror feature film co-produced and directed by John R. Walker (5G ZombiesThe Amityville Playhouse) from a screenplay written by Darrell Buxton and Steve Hardy. The Scrapfilms production stars Lois Wilkinson, Lesley Scoble, Roger Shepherd and Gabriella Calderone.

Plot:

Young single mum India (Lois Wilkinson) moves into her new rented house and adds to the pressures of finding employment and meeting the rent when she and her friend begin dabbling with an Ouija board they found buried in the garden. Evil powers are unleashed and mysterious deaths begin to occur…

Reviews [click links to read more]:

” …a suburban drama with things that go bump in the night. Things do eventually move to an Evil Dead style climax – presaged by a cafe scene where India’s slacker ex breaks out in pentagramic welts and spews bile everywhere…” Dark Eyes of London

“A lot of the camera shots are flat and drab, the score and foley work stays in line with the visuals, with the exception of a fun constant menacing sound that signifies the evil spirit, and more time should have been spent either in casting the roles or just getting the cast he could afford to do what was being asked of them.” For It Is Man’s Number

“Curses are dismissed as “bloody rubbish”, Basil Exposition-style “experts” are written off for their “mumbo jumbo” and a chirpy window cleaner is harassed by his own, possessed hose […] Refreshing humour aside, the movie also takes time to flesh out an appealing, likeable heroine – played with a natural screen presence by newcomer Wilkinson – and bows out with a circular downbeat ending in the tradition of its 1970’s forebears.” Horrorscreams Videovault

“Nice first sequence, but the British section pales in comparison. A few good performances, the young mum and the cinema-loving priest. Some effects scenes seemingly kept in from a longer cut, so just sit there, out of place.” Mick Brooks

“Chuckled at awkward acting, and the ‘shock’ of a dogs head thrown made me guffaw. But the earnest ambition of it all, the commitment to trad horror, left me rather affectionate toward it. Loved the horror-fan bishop guy.” Peter Laws

Ouijageist is low budget and far from original, but it is entertaining. There’s everything from possession to a killer garden hose to a creature in the kitchen sink. The effects may be fairly bare-bones but unlike so many low budget films lately, at least it has effects […] Once you get past the slow start Ouijageist is fairly witty and fun with quite a few references to other films worked in.” Voices from the Balcony
