‘Deadlier than ever’
Deep Blue Sea 3 is a 2020 American action-horror film directed by John Pogue (Eraser: Reborn; The Quiet Ones; Quarantine 2: Terminal) from a screenplay written by Dirk Blackman (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans; Outlander; Black Mask 2: City of Masks).
The Roserock Films production stars Tania Raymonde (Texas Chainsaw; Chillerama), Nathaniel Buzolic (The Vampire Diaries), Emerson Brooks and Bren Foster. It was produced by Theuns De Wet, Hunt Lowry and Patty Reed.
Although Deep Blue Sea 2 had fairly tepid reviews, it obviously did well enough for Warner Bros to have greenlit a second sequel. It was released on July 28th 2020 on Digital and August 25th 2020 as a Blu-ray + DVD combo.
The movie was rated R by the MPAA for “some violence, bloody images, and language.”
Plot:
Doctor Emma Collins (Tania Raymonde) and her team are spending their third summer on the sinking island of Little Happy studying the effect of climate change on the great white sharks who come to the nearby nursery every year to give birth.
Along with the last two inhabitants of this former fishing village, their peaceful life is disrupted when a “scientific” team led by her ex-boyfriend and marine biologist Richard (Nathaniel Buzolic) show up looking for three bull sharks who we soon learn aren’t just any bull sharks…
