HAPPY HALLOWEEN, SCOOBY-DOO! (2020) Reviews and overview

Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! is 2020 American animated film written, produced and directed by Maxwell Atoms (The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy).

The movie features the voice talents of Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo/Fred Jones, Grey Griffin as Daphne Blake, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy Rogers and Kate Micucci as Velma Dinkley. It also features Cassandra Peterson as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, Bill Nye as himself and Dwight Schultz as the voice of Batman villain The Scarecrow. Sam Register (Ben 10, Batman: The Killing Joke, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai) was executive producer.

Plot:
With fake monsters and candy galore, Halloween is heaven for these hungry foodies going door-to-door. But this year, their sweet holiday turns sour when the neighbourhood pumpkin patch is infected with toxic ooze, creating high-flying jack-o-lanterns, and a king-sized pumpkin leader squashing everything in its path.

It’s up to Scooby-Doo and the gang as they team up with their pals, Bill Nye the Science Guy and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, to solve this mystery of gigantic proportions and save Crystal Cove!

Reviews:
The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy creator Maxwell Atoms proves to be an ideal choice to write, direct, and produce. There’s nary a dull moment among the fast-paced 80 minutes, and each frame oozes with Halloween atmosphere. Along the way, there are references to the likes of Westworld, First Blood, Planet of the Apes, Christine, Frankenstein, and even A Pup Named Scooby-Doo.” Broke Horror Fan

“In these same uncertain times that are chock full of disappointments, it pains me to say, Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo is another one. The movie may have a label that advertises guaranteed good times like only the Scooby gang can deliver. Inside, it’s a low octane lark that’s criminally light on mirth, meaning, or merely making sense as a story.” Culture Crypt

“Overall, Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo is a fun entry into the DTV line of animated movies. At only 76-minutes long, it’s a fine time-waster and I suspect families will enjoy this one, even with Elvira, Mistress of the Dark going over the heads of some viewers.” Movieman’s Guide to the Movies
