TALES FROM THE HOOD 3 (2020) Reviews and overview

Tales from the Hood 3 is a 2020 American horror anthology film and obviously a sequel to Tales from the Hood (1995) and Tales from the Hood 2 (2018).

Written and directed by Rusty Cundieff and Darin Scott, the Universal Pictures Home Entertainment movie stars Tony Todd (Candyman; Final Destination; et al), Lynn Whitfield, Cooper Huckabee (The Funhouse 1981), Jaime M. Callica, London Brown and Stephanie Sy.

Reviews:

“While it’s unchallenging to identify weaker links, it’s harder to finger any one segment as a true standout. Tales from the Hood 3 goes down smoothest as a sum of its parts rather than separating each short into individual ladder rungs. They’re all fair enough, although not great, averaging out to an anthology that’s at least as good or better than Tales from Hood 2…” Culture Crypt

“The cast is mostly African-American, by Tales from the Hood tradition, and the actors are all convincing. Most segments have a small cast, but this is still what I consider quality filmmaking. The sarcastic attitude of the previous films is gone. In all shorts, the line between good and evil is blurred, making it hard to care for protagonists or antagonists.” Tales of Terror

” …it’s surprisingly decent and in comparison to the previous movie, the actors are more recognizable, the production values are much improved and even the writing and the stories told are more entertaining and in line with the original film. Either way, while it’s incredibly predictable and offers nothing new, it kept my interest…” UHM

Tales From the Hood 3 has better production values than the previous installment. But the stories themselves are, for the most part, bland. I can’t see people hating this like they did the second one, but I don’t see anyone really loving it either. It’s watchable, but that’s about it.” Voices from the Balcony
