Tremors: Shrieker Island is a 2020 American science fiction horror film about genetically modified monsters on the attack: Graboids and Shriekers!
Directed by Don Michael Paul (Death Race 4: Beyond Anarchy; Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell; Tremors 5: Bloodlines; Lake Placid: The Final Chapter) from a screenplay written by Brian Brightly.
The Universal Home Entertainment production stars Michael Gross, Richard Brake, Jon Heder, Caroline Langrishe, Jackie Cruz, Cassie Clare, Sahajak Boonthanakit, Matthew Douglas, Randy Kalsi, Bear Williams, David Assavanon, Boonma Lamphon, Aukrawut Rojaunawat, Owen Macrae, Iris Park and Mikey Black.
Plot:
When a group of wealthy trophy hunters genetically modify Graboid eggs to create the ultimate hunting experience, it isn’t long before their prey escapes the confines of their small island and begin terrorizing the inhabitants of a nearby island research facility. The head of the research facility and her second-in-command Jimmy locate the one man who is an expert in killing Graboids: the one and only and now reluctant, Burt Gummer (Michael Gross).
Once onboard, Burt leads the group in an all-out war against the larger, faster, and terrifyingly intelligent Graboids and the swiftly multiplying Shriekers!
Reviews:
“Tremors has always been a series that’s embraced the inherent humor of its situations, but, aside from Gross and Heder, everyone’s taking things way too seriously here, and there aren’t really any moments where the occasionally over-the-top destruction is allowed to breathe and be appreciated.” Allusions of Grandeur
“Tremors: Shrieker Island is a film that tends to take itself a tad bit more seriously than the previous two outings, making for a less fun experience overall. Or maybe it’s just because we’ve seen it all before. On top of everything else the editing is often rough, with one scene constantly interrupting the flow and tension of another…” Bloody Disgusting
“30 years after the first film comes by far the best sequel of the entire franchise. This time they let the Graboids and Shriekers be menacing again and that was a welcome change. Michael Gross was great as usual and Bill Heder was much better than Jamie Kennedy. If this is the end of the franchise it definitely goes out on top.” Hotsake
“Meandering people on the ground when they fully well know graboids are attracted by movement, half the film scaled back to slow motion to accentuate big money explosions, and the mother of all graboids able to target Burt Gummer for a mano on monstro showdown are just more examples of the charmless details in, what is, a palpable comedy with Earth dwelling monsters.” It’s Bloggin’ Evil
