THE STREETS RUN RED (2017) Reviews and overview

‘There’s death on every corner’

The Streets Run Red is a 2017 American horror film about two cops on the trail of a serial murderer known as the Kubrick Killer. When the maniac falls right into the cops’ laps without them realising it, fact and fiction begin to blur for the three men whose senses of reality seem less and less certain…

Written and directed by Paul M McAlarney (Honky Holocaust), the movie stars Dimas Bardales, James Baglini, Ray DiNitto and Tony Moran. Lloyd Kaufman provided the voice of a football announcer.

Reviews:

“I liked the idea of juxtaposing moments in the killer’s life — often when he felt like he was playing a role — with what is probably his true self — when he’s actually killing people. That said, you can probably sell that point to the audience without some of the anatomy lesson-level gore on display here.” B&S About Movies

“The acting is amateurish, the sound is tinny (like everyone is talking through a coffee can), and the camera work is weak at best. And while […] no one would watch this for the cinematic technique, it is strange for a movie centered on the hunt for the “Kubrick Killer” to not have better camera work. It would seem that all the creativity of the film was reserved for the various ways he’d murder people.” Film Threat

” …has a very hard time upon deciding whether it wants to be a gritty police thriller, an urban street thriller, or a misogynistic torture fest as it achieves nothing in any of those fields(with the stale directing and the bland performances from the cast adding no help) while proving itself to be a major celluloid trainwreck that sucks on all levels.” Steven Millan
