Day of the Animals is a 1977 American horror film thriller about a group of hikers that encounter a chemically imbalanced forest. The imbalance was caused by a hole in the Earth’s ozone layer caused by pollution.
Directed by William Girdler (Grizzly; Three on a Meathook; Abby; The Manitou) from a screenplay co-written by William W. Norton and Eleanor E. Norton, based on a story by producer Edward L. Montoro
A Film Ventures release, the movie reunited stars Christopher George and Richard Jaeckel, director Girdler and producer Montoro from the previous year’s hit film Grizzly. Leslie Nielsen — later in the horror spoofs Repossessed and Dracula: Dead and Loving It — also stars.
The soundtrack score was composed by Lalo Schifrin (Tales of Halloween; The Amityville Horror; Enter the Dragon; Dirty Harry; Bullitt; Eye of the Cat).
Plot:
The depletion of the earth’s ozone layer causes animals above the altitude of 5,000 feet to run amok, which is very unfortunate for a group of hikers who get dropped off up there by helicopter just before the quarantine is announced…
