Grizzly is a 1976 American horror film about an eighteen-foot man-eating bear that terrorises a National Forest.
Directed by William Girdler from a screenplay co-written by Harvey Flaxman and David Sheldon, the movie stars Christopher George, Andrew Prine, Richard Jaeckel, Joan McCall and Joe Dorsey.
Widely considered a Jaws rip-off, Grizzly used many of the same plot devices as its shark-focused predecessor.
In 1983, a sequel Grizzly II: The Predator was shot, but post-production was never completed. The abortive project provided early roles for both Charlie Sheen (The Wraith; The Arrival; Scary Movie sequels) and George Clooney. In 2020 it was announced that the sequel has been completed and would be released in January 2021 as Grizzly II: Revenge.
