TRIASSIC HUNT (2021) Reviews and release news

‘Which is the deadliest?’

Triassic Hunt is a 2021 American science-fiction action horror film about a mercenary team sent to capture two genetically created dinosaurs. When they realise that the dinosaurs have been bred as smart as humans, the game of cat and mouse turns for the worst.

Directed by Gerald Rascionato (Claw; Open Water 3: Cage Dive) from a screenplay co-written by Ward Anderson (Doctor Death) and Marc Morgenstern (Doctor Death; Vitals; The Vampire Conspiracy). Produced by Ward Anderson, Paul Bales, David Michael Latt and Marc Morgenstern.

The Asylum production stars Michael Paré (Bridge of the Doomed; Amphibious; Bad Moon), Linnea Quigley (Demonica; Jack-O; Night of the Demons), Tammy Klein (Atlantic Rim: Resurrection; Zoombies; Little Dead Rotting Hood), Mike Ferguson (The Devils Heist; Anonymous Killers; Axegrinder 2) and Sienna Farall (Becoming; Malignant; Insidious: Chapter 2).

Reviews:

“This film kicks off with a car crash and the mayhem doesn’t let up until the closing credits. That’s not at the expense of telling the film’s story, it just keeps those scenes brief and succinct – stretching out the films “mystery” across a number of scenes, eking out the truth behind what’s happening with the Allosaurus’ for as long as they can without stretching it out too far.” Nerdly

Triassic Hunt isn’t a bad film, it’s just not anything special either […] It’s a watchable, but by the numbers film where you can guess what’s going to happen long before it does. And it builds to one of those endings that feels good for about thirty seconds before you realize a few hundred innocent people were sacrificed in it as well.” Voices from the Balcony

Choice dialogue:

“Don’t assume that a dinosaur can’t catch you by surprise.”

“Hey, erm, dinosaur. I know you can understand me. We have your egg. We know where you are. Come and get it!”

MOVIES & MANIA comment and rating:

A vastly inferior sequel to the more expensive and enjoyably tense Triassic World (2018), the thin plot consists of five mercenaries and their unlikely leader (played by miscast Ramiro Leal who doesn’t have the gravitas for such a role) running in and around a warehouse. Most of the time is spent with characters saying “copy that” on radio coms rather than allosaurus action. Meanwhile, Linnea Quigley pulls faces and Michael Paré’s character sits on the phone and at a laptop auctioning off the dinosaurs ala’ Jurassic World: Lost Kingdom. Alternately tiresome and laughable.
