An ape, lost in space, crash-lands back to Earth. The vessel oozes a sludge that triggers massive growth in both the ape, as well as a passing Gila monster.

Once the creatures reach a titanic size, their paths cross again, leading to a giant brawl in Washington D.C. in which mankind hangs in the balance…

Reviews:
” …Fake Godzilla looked pretty darned good […] Actress Arianna Scott is very pretty even with a dirty face. Eric Roberts was in this movie. Every single Russian accent in this movie was endlessly entertaining. What wasn’t so great was that there were a lot of words in this movie. I mean a LOT of words. We didn’t have much of Ape’s fighting Monsters, but we did have people talking about Ape’s and Monsters a lot.” Film Critics United

” …the CGI in this film is particularly good, both creatures are rendered well; with the film’s giant salamander, their “faux-zilla” if you will, looking really, good. And the final scenes, the grand-scale mass-destruction caused by the ginormous salamander look brilliant, pretty much the antithesis of The Asylum’s usual work.” Nerdly

“An absolute bore that spends far too much time with bad actors who ramble on and on about trivial matters. Attempts the structure of an epic film, but can’t come up with a single exciting moment.” Splatter Critic

Ape vs. Monster should have been an easy win for The Asylum. Two creatures, lots of CGI planes and tanks for them to stomp on and some city-sized explosions at the end. That would have kept their fans happy, and if done halfway competently satisfied a lot of general B movie lovers as well. probably have satisfied Instead, the creatures are barely on screen and the destruction almost non-existent.” Voices from the Balcony
