‘Never underestimate a nobody’
Nobody is a 2020 American action crime thriller film about a bystander who intervenes to help a woman being harassed by a group of thugs. Unwittingly, he becomes the target of a vengeful Russian gangster.
Directed by Ilya Naishuller from a screenplay by Derek Kolstad (John Wick franchise), the 87North-Eighty Two Films production movie stars Bob Odenkirk (Freaks of Nature; Hell & Back), Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman 1984; Sea Fever), Christopher Lloyd and J.P. Manoux. Produced by Braden Aftergood, Kelly McCormick, Bob Odenkirk and Marc Provissiero.
Plot:
Hutch Mansell (Bob Odenkirk) is an underestimated and overlooked dad and husband, taking life’s indignities on the chin and never pushing back. A nobody.
When two thieves break into his suburban home one night, Hutch declines to defend himself or his family, hoping to prevent serious violence. His teenage son, Blake (Gage Munroe), is disappointed in him and his wife, Becca (Connie Nielsen), seems to pull only further away.
The aftermath of the incident strikes a match to Hutch’s long-simmering rage, triggering dormant instincts and propelling him on a brutal path that will surface dark secrets and lethal skills. In a barrage of fists, gunfire and squealing tyres, Hutch must save his family from a dangerous Russian sociopathic scumbag gangster (Aleksey Serebryakov) and ensure that he will never be underestimated as a nobody again.

Production:
Better known for comedy roles, actor Bob Odenkirk had to train with stuntman Daniel Bernhardt, learning a melange of boxing, jujitsu, karate, and judo moves. He told Entertainment Weekly: “The fist-bloodying fight sequences were as much fun as being in a comedy room,” he says. “I mean, I’ve never had that much fun since we wrote Mr. Show. It’s a group effort. Anytime you see a fight sequence in a movie that has a bunch of people, as soon as they yell ‘Cut!,’ everyone laughs.
