Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom filming continues in London and THR has revealed that WandaVision star Randall Park has signed on to reprise his role as Doctor Stephen Shin, while the sequel has also added three newcomers to the DCEU in Indya Moore (Queen & Slim), Vincent Regan (300) and Jani Zhao (South).
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is a 2022 American action-fantasy film that continues the underwater adventures of the DC Comics character.
Directed by James Wan (Malignant; Aquaman; The Conjuring; Dead Silence; Saw) from a screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It; Aquaman; The Conjuring 2; Red Riding Hood; Orphan), based on the character created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger.
The movie stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.
Meanwhile, Jason Momoa has revealed a new look for Aquaman on Instagram. The first image shows Momoa in a green and orange costume that reflects the original comic book look.
The second image shows Momoa’s film Aquaman in a darker costume. “Second round. New suit. More action. #aquaman Aloha j” he wrote.
James Wan commented: “Aquaman 2 is very heavily inspired by Planet of the Vampires. You can take the boy out of horror, but you can never take the horror out of the boy.”
Wan continued: “People were taken aback that I didn’t throw all that stuff away and make a dark, heavy film. But I didn’t feel that would have been right for it. So with the second film, I feel it will be easier for people to accept where we go because I’ve already laid the foundation.”
The first day of filming has commenced near London in England.
