Delroy Lindo is joining the cast of Marvel’s Blade reboot project. The British actor will co-star opposite Mahershala Ali, who will be playing the role of the titular half-vampire, half-mortal hero character (announced way back at Comic-Con in 2019) previously played brilliantly by Wesley Snipes.
Lindo’s role has not been specified yet. His long career includes many TV roles plus films such as Malcolm X, Clockers, Da 5 Bloods, Get Shorty, The Cider House Rules, Gone in 60 Seconds and Up. He can currently be seen in Netflix’s black-themed Western The Harder They Fall.
Bassam Tariq will be directing the new Blade from a screenplay written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour (Watchmen TV series).
Having been created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan, the Blade character first appeared in The Tomb of Dracula comic series in 1973. The human-vampire hybrid is a protector of the mortal race while slaying evil vampires.
