Reviews:

“Sword fights, monsters, and practical effects sometimes make the film look like an extensive LARP battle come to life, and the best part is that it never overstays its welcome, moving the story along at a quick pace that never feels boring or droll […] Bae Wolf proves we can expand the monster movie genre in fun, new, and inclusive ways and not just consider the monsters we’ve become accustomed to.” Horror Obsessive

” …some fun with gender roles in the story, helping with the originality that flows through it. At less than ninety minutes, time flies by and I love originality in all forms. Fans of low budget, homemade-style indie films will get a kick out of this film from David Axe…” Nerdly

Bae Wolf is never able to fully step away from the obvious constraints of what it was able to work with. By leaning into this rather than trying to get the viewer to ignore it however was a good decision. The strength of the writing made some memorable scenes, and it was fun to see so many returning actors from Axe’s previous films.” The Rotting Zombie

” …this is a rather low-key affair based much more on solid storytelling than mere action – and that’s really one of the strengths of the film as it gives its story and its characters enough air to breathe moves at an intentionally relaxed pace to properly develop things and put an emphasis on dialogue. That’s not to say that the film’s a bore at all, as it shows wit in both dialogue and storytelling…” Search My Trash

” …Bae Wolf wants to tell its story at all costs, even if it means keeping the special effects to a minimum. It comes from a community known for filling the blanks with its imagination. We’re invited to do the same. The queer angle gives it flavor, yet it’s the softest facet. The biggest surprise is the ending.” Tales of Terror

“This is a fun period movie with an intriguing plot, dark humour, interesting characters and it also has moments of brutal violence […]  This movie was filmed on a tight budget, therefore one should not expect terrific special effects and the acting is not superb. Nevertheless, this is still an enjoyable experience.” UK Film Review

” …a strange B movie that manages to make a few points while delivering some thrills […] After the relatively bloodless House Monster and Lection, it’s nice to see Axe going back to his roots. Bae Wolf won’t be for everyone, but if you’re willing to work with it there’s a lot of fun, and a bit of knowledge, to be had.” Voices from the Balcony
