‘The challenge has begun’
Dinosaur World is a 2022 science fiction action-adventure film about a game in which the contestants face off against prehistoric creatures.

Directed by Ryan Bellgardt (Jurassic Games; Gremlin; Army of Frankensteins) from a screenplay written by Wu Chenglei, Xing Haishan and Chris Hoyt (The Adventures of Jurassic Pet: The Lost SecretAdventures of Rufus: The Fantastic PetThe Adventures of Jurassic Pet).

The American-Chinese Boiling Point Media-Flame Node production stars Xing Yu, Steven He, Mike Pu and Phuong Kubacki.

Plot:
A deadly game. A life-changing prize. When a group of contestants come together to take part in a competition held in a virtual reality realm ruled by dinosaurs, shifting alliances and jockeying for victory become secondary to the ultimate goal: to survive at all costs. Welcome to Dinosaur World … an eye-popping place where anything can happen … and the life-and-death stakes are all too real.

Our view:
If you can get beyond the painfully trite and slowly delivered dialogue and dire echoey dubbing Dinosaur World offers some impressive prehistoric predator effects, budget considered. The pterodactyls are the least effectively presented yet always welcome.

To some, Dinosaur World will be agreeably empty-headed vacuous entertainment much like the video games it relates to. But to most viewers, the lack of anything even vaguely relatable beyond the dino effects will leave them uninvolved. That said, it’s never dull as the Scott Jeffrey produced Britshit dino dramas or some of the worst Asylum efforts. That said, another downside is an annoying kid of the same kind that used to be a feature of many Asian movies. As he himself says, “this is painful.”

Best daft bit: a feisty young lady knocks out a raptor with one punch to its head. Yep, you read that right. And there’s more dino punching later. Dinosaur World is so bad-it’s-good inanity.
