The Gray Man is a 2022 American spy thriller in which the CIA’s most skilled operative accidentally uncovers dark agency secrets. Hence, a psychopathic former colleague puts a bounty on his head, setting off a global manhunt by international assassins.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo [as The Russo Brothers] from a screenplay co-written by the latter with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, based on a novel by Mark Greaney.

The Netflix production stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Regé-Jean Page, Wagner Moura and Billy Bob Thornton.

Plot:
Court Gentry aka, Sierra Six (Ryan Gosling) a highly skilled former CIA operative, was once the agency’s best merchant of death. After his escape from prison and recruitment by former handler Donald Fitzroy, Gentry is now on the run from the CIA with agent Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans) hot on his trail. Aided by Agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas), Hansen will stop at nothing to bring Gentry down…

Reviews:
“The age-old rogue male storyline plays out twist-free. The audience is left to thrill at the Russos’ impersonal flash and the charisma of the stars. Gosling can still carry a movie, even if he now seems like his own tribute act. But de Armas is wasted, stuck in a backwater part. Evans gets all the fun she doesn’t.” Financial Times

“The dialogue has far too many protracted speeches at gunpoint but is also heavily clichéd. Netflix has backed a lot of good films, and then pushed them hard for awards, but this one is nothing but pap, blatantly tailored to service streaming viewers’ needs: their pleasure in familiar faces and quickly graspable scenarios, their readiness to pause and switch, their boredom and impatience.” The New Statesman

” …it’s definitely recommended to watch The Gray Man on the biggest screen possible, even for those who view the movie after its streaming release on Netflix. Between the Russos behind the camera and the talent in front of it, The Gray Man is a fun and exciting action thriller. It may be in the vein of cheesy 80s and 90s action movies, but that makes The Gray Man all the more entertaining and rewatchable.” 3.5 out of 5, Screen Rant

“Things proceed as you expect and there are no real shocks or surprise moments. It’s not the best thriller I’ve seen but its execution is top-notch. Elevated by the Russo’s skilful direction, great pacing and a fantastic, committed supporting cast. It was great to finally see Ana de Armas delivering on the role she should have had in No Time to Die…” 4 out of 5, We Talk Film
