The Tag Along 2 is a 2017 Taiwanese supernatural horror film directed by Wei-Hao Cheng (Who Killed Cock Robin?; The Tag Along) from a screenplay by Shih-Keng Chien (The Tag Along; The Fatality; The Victim).
On April 3, 2018, the film is released on DVD in the United States by Cinedigm as The Haunted.
A mother goes in search of her missing teenage daughter after her sudden disappearance. She is told that her daughter was last seen in the company of a girl in red, leading the mother to attempt to unravel the mystery behind the girl…
“Performances are all adequate, with Hsu Wei-ning being particularly intense and ghostly. All in all The Tag-Along 2, despite lacking in originality, uses crowd-pleasing sentimental values to firmly secure its place as a solid piece of pop entertainment.” Asian Movie Pulse
“The genuine scares and physical symptoms associated with watching this movie […] are reason enough to make it worthwhile of a viewing. Add beautifully vivid imagery, special effects, great direction, fine performances, and an interesting foundation for a storyline, and viewers will be glad to add this sequel to their horror collections…” 4/5 Cryptic Rock
“Although The Tag-Along 2 is short of creative scares – an all-too-convenient, albeit visually intriguing riff on provincial folklore sees Ya-ting’s boyfriend (Wu Nien-hsuan) moonlighting as a local medium who specialises in channelling a formidable, tigerlike deity – the film qualifies as more than passable entertainment with its tightly woven storylines and strong performances across a uniformly solid cast.” Edmund Lee, South China Morning Post
“The mediumship sequences will no doubt feel uncomfortable to some as a religious method, but it is authentic and compelling while providing another level of the supernatural to the works, all the way except the end where the lacklustre CGI becomes more of a distraction than an asset.” Movie Exclusive
“It’s not a complete loss as the climax is certainly a thrilling pay-off but nowhere near as satisfying as the brilliant build-up. Much more than a trashy quickie horror sequel (at least up until the last half hour) than many might be expecting, The Tag-Along 2 is an entertaining ghostly romp that when on form, expertly blends drama and frights.” Far East Films
