‘Every trespasser will be punished’
Those Who Call is a 2021 American backwoods horror film about two sisters being stalked by a sadistic pagan cult.

Written and directed by Anubys Lopez (Aged) making his film debut.

The film stars Angie Sandoval, Yetlanezi Rodriguez, Reese Fast, Kevin Kinkade and Addison Cousins.

Two sisters go on a road trip to Colorado. On their way there, their car breaks down in an abandoned old town. Soon they realise things aren’t what they seem, and they aren’t alone in the forest. They find themselves being hunted by a sadistic pagan cult and must do everything in their power to survive…

Reviews:
” …Ana and Sandra attempt to ‘figure out’ (a recurring phrase) thorny resentments, rivalries and recriminations that cannot easily be reconciled, ending in an unspeakably evil act justified (in bad faith) via the righteous terms of religion. No wonder the film ends with a character all at once triumphant and tearful, challenged – like the viewer – to resolve the contradictory feelings of love and hate that family so readily ingrains in us.” Projected Figures

“A very nice piece of horror that doesn’t rely on gore and spectacle but rather goes for atmosphere – and the wonderful and slightly creepy forest (along with sparse but moody set decorations) of course helps with that, along with a script that intentionally takes a slow burn approach but knows how to keep up the suspense throughout nevertheless.” Search My Trash

“Unfortunately, it’s a bit of a mess. Very little actually happens and at least half of Those Who Call is simply the two sisters arguing. And when something does happen half the time we can’t see it because the film is so dark. At least that makes the film’s low body count and lack of effects largely irrelevant.” 1 out of 5, Voices from the Balcony
