Cocaine Shark is a 2023 American monster movie – sold as a mockbuster of Cocaine Bear – when it’s not. It was an existing threadbare project about a drug called HT25 that was retitled to cash in on the aforementioned movie.

Written, edited and directed by micro-budget filmmaker Mark Polonia (Doll Shark; SharkulaCamp MurderShark Encounters of the Third KindReturn to Splatter FarmBride of the WerewolfGhost of Camp BloodBigfoot vs. ZombiesFeeders; plus many, many more).

The movie stars Samantha Coolidge, Ryan Dalton, Natalie Himmelberger, Titus Himmelberger, Jeff Kirkendall, Noyes J. Lawton, Kyle Rappaport and Ken Van Sant.

Plot:
A Mafia drug lord has unleashed a new, highly addictive stimulant on the streets called HT25, derived from sharks held captive in a secret lab, and which causes monstrous side effects. After an explosion and leak at the lab, an army of mutated, bloodthirsty sharks and other creatures are set loose on the world…

Reviews:
“This seventy-minute cringe fest is shot largely in close-up, presumably to hide what the production values (what little there are), and has sound design describable only as unforgivable. Its creature effects are clunky, gaps in the narrative are filled by stock footage and all sound effects will be familiar to anyone who has ever used Windows Movie Maker.” Battle Royale with Cheese

” …there were times during this movie that made me smile. The shonky special effects that cost less than that prolific paperback copy of Jaws found in every charity shop, the ridiculous dialogue trying to briefly explain some science, and the neo-noir nonsense had a certain charm. But it’s all part of a movie that grinds you down by doing everything in a way that is surprisingly dull.” For It Is Man’s Number

“There is no gore and no effects that look better than stock samples that sometimes move. None of the green screen effects are remotely convincing. Cast look off in the wrong direction and the aspect of depth is completely off. Overall the film doesn’t try to be cohesive and the storyline makes me look more kindly upon Asylum films.” 0 out of 5, Mother of Movies

Cocaine Shark feels like it was pieced together from leftover scenes or unfinished scripts and might better have been called Frankenshark since Polonia has already made one called Sharkenstein […] all I can say is no matter how curious the title makes you don’t watch Cocaine Shark, not even once.” 1 out of 5, Voices from the Balcony
