In the late 1890s, Davenport House was a famously successful brothel, ruled with an iron fist by an owner notorious for his cruelty and insatiable greed. Virtually imprisoned inside these walls, young Alice was forced to endure years of brutality and sexual slavery – until she took murderous revenge on her captors and tragically ended her own life.
More than a century later, the latest Davenport heir is hosting a decadent bash in the newly renovated mansion – complete with drugs, prostitutes and just one rule: anything goes. But the “fun” has barely begun when strange, terrifying things begin to happen.
Suddenly, the legend of Alice’s tormented ghost proves to be very real as the guests discover firsthand that vengeance never rests in peace…
“Edges are roughened by unintentional lens flares, wonky ADR looping, and mismatched ambient noise during some dialogue exchanges. But with scantily-clad attractive actresses and an appearance by fan favorite Kane Hodder, Alice D has its eye on the basic gates it needs to hit for a green circle slalom through straightforward horror appeal.” Culture Crypt
“The Haunting of Alice D is a mixed bag. The acting is rough. Watching awkward conversations poorly acted is about seventy percent of the film. The sexism and misogyny is laid on pretty thick as well, making some scenes almost unbearable when coupled with the poor delivery. There is a decent thirty percent of pretty tolerable acting rounding it out.” UK Horror Scene
“The Haunting of Alice D is a really nice little ghost story that manages to manages to marry its sleazy backdrop to a feminist message and still come across sexy at all the right moments, that takes time to build up its story and characters before hammering home the shocks with quite a bit of panache, and that’s really high on atmosphere…” Search My Trash
