Reviews:
“I’m obviously the target audience for something like this, but it’s been a long time since I got a charge so perfectly pitched between catharsis and repulsion. Stripped away from any sense of moral obligation, the violence and cruelty of Evil Dead is intriguingly warm-hearted and comforting, probably because it stems from the film’s overriding need to please you.” Bloody Disgusting
“The amount of intensity, violence and downright nastiness that Alvarez manages to cram into Evil Dead is brutal, visceral and will prove to be an endurance test (in a good way) for anyone out there who goes into it thinking this is going to be another “by-the-numbers” studio remake.” Dread Central
“Even if the original movie is one of your favorite films, you should check this one out. It’s absolutely worth a shot. Fede Alvarez is definitely a guy that we’ll all be looking for in the future. His vision of Evil Dead is perfectly valid and absolutely well-made. He’s obviously a huge fun of the original and is totally respectful of the material…” Professor Wagstaff
“Unhinged. Gruesome. Paralyzing. These words and more aptly describe Fede Alvarez’s reimagining of the 1981 cult classic The Evil Dead. While not as campy as the original (though still with its humorous moments) it is a true homage to its predecessor in both spirit and visuals.” Blog Critics
“Fans will have fun picking out all the nods to the original film throughout the entire movie. And when you’re not on the edge of your seat and covering your eyes from the pure and unadulterated horror on the screen, you’ll find yourself clapping at moments when someone sees a chainsaw or reloads a boomstick.” High-Def Digest
“I don’t know if I speak for anyone else, but numbness sets in and the torments soon add up to nothing as you wait for the end credits. You know how it’s going to come out, but it’s a good-looking journey.” Monsters and Critics
